EPISODE 3
DON'T
These women. *head shake* So far, they've put some flashy stuff on YMS for her character, but this yellow dress was like... huh? First off, the print just makes me laugh, and even though I'm a huge fan of the belted dress, this particular off-the-shoulder style doesn't suit her. The top is too bulky and the sleeves end somewhere funny. And Chan Min's mother, good lord. What is it with these Asian designers and RUFFLES, fer cryin' out loud. I know she's supposed to be ridiculous, but those sleeves and that oversized collar just gotta go.
HEROINE
Let me say it one more time: what is it with these Asian designers and RUFFLES. Stop wasting fabric already, sheesh. LDH is adorable, but the huge bow that's damn near choking her just makes me wince. The socks can go, the long sleeve can go, and the jeans can get unrolled. The turquoise-y color is nice enough. Overall, too many layers and too much fuss, but what else is one to expect with the funky heroine character. 3/10.
To quote theed, "I swear, they gave a second grader free reign with felt." Indeed, that's the best summary of this outfit, which would work nicely if you're, oh, five years old. I'm definitely not feeling the jagged pink top or the polka dotted bottom. She looks rather like an updated version of the Flintstones, no? And then adding the nice coat over the tacky outfit again--what's with the irony here? The yellow was actually a little too neon for my tastes (looks vaguely green on my screen), but it isn't a bad coat on its own at all. Now she looks like the Morton Salt Girl. 4/10.
But LDH can definitely pull off yellow, I'll give her that. She looks like the human incarnation of the spring day sometimes. This outfit was bordering on pretty, and I certainly appreciate the nice belted jacket. The bow is small and adds just the right amount of femininity. But kill the ruffles already, geez. I wasn't crazy about the zig-zag pattern on the skirt, but it wasn't too obvious. The yellow is vibrant enough to carry the rest of the outfit through. 6/10.
ACCESSORY ACHIEVEMENT
Ah, I love this woman's wardrobe and you'll see plenty of it in the coming FPs for this show. She always has the nicest, sleekest look. Earrings do tend to monopolize my accessory award, but I can't help it--earrings are the most noticeable accessory since a K-drama consists mostly of talking head shots. Here, she's got a dangly gold design with a small pearl at the end--gotta love the slight emphasis. There have been some earrings on her in previous episodes that were too long for my liking, but these were just right. I usually don't like them to dangle all the way to the shoulders. Anywhere between the mouth and the chin line is perfectly fine.
