Notes
Thoroughly forgettable. Cute at times, sincere when it wants to be, but saturated with repetition and humor that isn’t actually funny.
The same thing happens every episode. Heroine defends ancestral lands, hero is torn between his company and his attraction to the heroine, and ancestors litter the screen, take up too much time, and add no substance. The word is
boring.
Everyone is painfully vanilla, save Ryan as Joon Yong. You can’t like anyone because everyone is so ridiculous, and you can’t hate anyone because they haven’t actually done anything wrong, they’re just... boring.
What themes?
No shark to jump.
All the boredom aside, I do like the ending because it’s fully resolved and feel good. And the traditional wedding was a welcome sight after not seeing it since Sweet 18.
Nothing terrible, nothing fabulous. There are a few night scenes with nice cinematography, but in general, the only eye candy are LDH’s hanboks.
"Stay By My Side" is a cute, perfect song for a romcom like this, and its orchestral version is beautiful with that single cello. The main ballad by Brian is really nice as well. An appropriate OST, if not a great one.
Isn’t well written, therefore can’t be well executed. Lee Ji Hoon does what he can as the hero (and he was okay), but no sparks really flew.
