episode 20

This is probably the first and only nice conversation that Hyo-rin will ever have with Chae-gyung. I actually like how the show wrapped up Hyo-rin's character, despite all the crap they pulled trying to give Hyo-rin some depth with those stupid sob stories. But you know, once these two are real friends, you guys know what that means right? Yup, practical jokes. So like, I'm thinking Chae-gyung will start off by making prank phone calls to Hyo-rin, but then with Hyo-rin being so resourceful she'll up the ante and send the gruesome threesome (though I guess they're not so gruesome anymore? bleh, I'll still call them that regardless) to go spray CG with silly string, however they'll get Shin instead and then it'll be war....

I was thiiiiiiis [ ] close to not finding a cute moment at all in this episode. Then I skipped through it one more time and found this. Those palace maidens, haha. I hope they stick around for Goong2. Maybe they'll even be promoted to sanggoong by that time and then they'll be just as strict as Choi Sanggoong. Can you imagine them training say....Hae-myung's husband to be? And like they would yell at whatever man servants are below them who's in charge of keeping an eye on him and they'd be like "Yes! Finally _we_ get to slap some wrists! Muahahahahahahahah!" Ah power trips, you gotta love em ^_^ (PS what's with Pang Na-in and bumping against the wall? Is she like...pretending to hoola hoop against the wall or something? O_o?)

What the hell? This show is supposed to be a romantic COMEDY, so where the heck is the funny stuff? Like CG's dad and mom were all over this episode and nothing happened. And like, Chae-gyung was the funniest character in the manhwa, yet she's become this idiotic ditz who lets her emotions get the better of her. It's times like these when I wish they left Gong Nessi as an eccentric eunuch with deeper intentions for Yul. Heck, I kinda wish they left Choi Sanggoong as an older lady of the court who tried to seduce Gong Nessi. Course I'd miss the hot young Choi Sanggoong, but dammit, that's the price I'm willing to pay for a good laugh. Who's with me? *begins to make to protest signs and breaks out old stock pile of toilet paper and shaving cream*

Ugh. My heart really broke when I saw such a sweet and kind grandmother come to the realization that Chae-gyung lied to her. She's so trusting and good natured and gave Chae-gyung the benefit of the doubt. It's times like these when you gotta bust out the grandchildren to make her happy....yea that's it! She should use this opportunity to guilt trip Chae-gyung into getting her a sehson! >=D
Also have to mention the part where CG was sitting in class and everybody was talking about their dreams and the teacher told her about how her fate was already decided. That just sucks man. Like, she's depressed enough as it is and then bam! But you know, I don't see how her being a princess prevents her from designing stuff. I can understand Shin not being able to direct movies, but CG should be able to find time to draw some stuff whenever she can, and when she has enough to put on a fashion show. And considering she's a princess it'd be fairly easy for her to get a lot of the fashion world to come. Or maybe it's just me who thinks this...

...Is it just me or does this screen shot make Joo Ji Hoon look weird? @_@... Um, so anyways, back on topic: Best Shin goes to when he confessed his love for Chae-gyung on national television. We all know he meant what he said, it's just too bad Chae-gyung is a little too thick in the head right now. But oh wellz. All I know is, if some guy were to confess his love to me right smack dab in front of hundreds of thousands, heck even millions of people, I know I'd French him right there...ok maybe not that. Little much for a PDA, so maybe like a kiss on the cheek. But you can bet all your marbles that on the car ride back the drivers better close up that front-back seat divider and give us some SPACE. ^_^v

Yea, I really hate how the writer has made Yul into this manipulative, selfish, whatever. But at least he's got his priorities straight? I mean, I guess it's good that he chooses love over power, but still...he's doing it in the wrong way. But since this is a Yul award I gotta give him props. Where the freak is Kang-hyun? She _really_ needs to come by and show him her legs *cough* I mean uh...the light. She needs to come and show him the light. Yea...

Ok, so maybe this wasn't exactly _that_ hot, but pretend if you never saw this show before, what would you think happened right now? So let's just make up some dialogue:
Shin: What's that perfume you got on? It smells really good...
CG: Oh, it's nothing really...just some mango-citrus-strawberry body spray
Shin: Chae-gyung you know I love those fruity scents. What are you trying to do
to me? You know we have to go on live national television in five minutes!
CG: I'm sorry, I forgot...
Shin: Don't lie...I know you want to make out with me...
Ok...so maybe the direction of this is a wee bit x-rated, but meh. This is the hot award so you know *nudgenudgewinkwink* is implied.

I know not much actually _happened_ in this scene, but I thought this showed a wee bit of progress in terms of the two expressing their feelings for each other. Earlier, Shin would've just left to see Hyo-rin without even telling Chae-gyung, no less wanting to get her involved and stuff. So it's really nice to see Shin be sensitive to that, it just shows Chae-gyung that he's got nothing to hide anymore. I kinda wish Chae-gyung did go with him to the airport, but I guess I understand why she told him to go by himself since she does understand that this will bring him final closure on the subject despite the fact that she doesn't fully comprehend everything that Shin has done to end this relationship *cough*EPISODE18AND19ETC*cough* But despite all this, I guess this is a pretty bittersweet moment since Shin and CG were at odds this entire episode. *le sigh*

WTF is up with the mindless masses? I can understand some teenage girls at a different school saying all this crap about CG. Heck, even I would do it, but only so long as I DIDN'T KNOW THE GIRL PERSONALLY. Forreals man. Chae-gyung goes to their school. They should know her well enough that going off and seeing another guy is not her style (even if it was Yul, but she's not having an affair with him so meh). And uh...are these people _totally_ forgetting what Shin did with Hyo-rin? For goodness sakes, there was solid evidence for _that_ yet Chae-gyung seems to be getting more flack from what someone who STOLE her car said. Double standard? Yes indeedy.
That dress. Yuck. It's like "LOOK AT MY UGLY BOOBS". Every now and then I think "hey, that's a cute outfit", but most of the time I keep thinking about how the wardrobe department has royally f**** up the costumes (no pun intended). I honestly hope they redo _everything_ for the next season.

Yul needs to get hit hard in the head with a metal tennis racquet for going on and ON about how Chae-gyung should announce her divorce on live tv since it's her only chance. I still fail to see how saying it live on tv is going to keep her safe from scrutiny and stuff. Yul just keeps going down this ugly path and it's just not pretty (yea yea, I know repetitive. Sue me =P). And CG needs to get whacked too. She's totally forgetting why she got married in the first place, what should have been a selfless act has now somehow warped into becoming a victim of the palace. She's letting her emotions get too much control over her and it's sickening how she's actually listening to Yul and his mother's manipulations. Paboh. *whack whack*
Overall thoughts: I gotta say this is one of the worst episodes out of the entire series. There are many reasons for this. One, it's just the normal dragginess that all k-dramas experience. Sucks, but you just gotta deal. Two, In Eun-ha has worked with only movies before, she's not accustomed to writing for such a long story-line. To which I say they should've hired a much more credible and experienced writer. Like the writer for Dae Jang Geum. 54 episodes and it never got tiring for me, and when it did get draggy, it wasn't that bad. Lastly, they're being forced to stretch this out because of Goong2, which I still say is a bad idea, but I suppose I'm being forced to be open minded about this, since heck production has already been settled and will begin pretty soon. Oh wellz. Just gotta roll with the punches. =/
