episode 14

Wow, before I had some episodes where I couldn't find anything sad, but this episode was just loaded with them, I had a hard time picking so I just chose the major ones. Mong-ryong probably suffered the most between him and Choon-hyang for the simple fact that she knew why she has to break up with him and thus was better prepared for it. Mong-ryong on the other hand just got sidelined with all of this and seeing him cry and drink away his sadness just about broke my heart.

Of course I had to include this moment in here too. This was more of a quiet sadness since he's just standing there, which makes it all the more painful to watch. It's too bad that Choon-hyang didn't get a chance to see him there because I'm sure she would've started tearing up too and at least show Mong-ryong she still cared about him.

And finally we have the big kicker. Just watching Mong-ryong's final plea for Choon-hyang to stay was just agonizing, I have no idea how Choon-hyang managed to just keep trudging along. Watching him sorta makes you think, wow so this is what love really is. I've seen a lot of dramas in my time, and a lot of the times it was really hard for me to tell whether or not the lead male really in fact was head over heels in love with the girl by the end of the drama. But here you just felt the pain right alongside Mong-ryong, I practically felt like I should've fainted too when he did as he tried to leave the airport.

Just looking at the cap you're probably thinking wtf, but just bear with me. A lot of the times in these romantic comedies the friends are ALWAYS these crazy people who you'd normally try to run away from in real life. I mean c'mon, Dong-wook and Hee-jin in Full House? I would've killed them after the first 5 minutes of meeting them. Or Kang-ja in Fantasy Couple? Sure she's cute, but it's not like you could ever have the same relationship you would with anybody else. Now Ji-hyuk and Dan-hee are awesome friends. It was really nice of Ji-hyuk to be looking out for Mong-ryong even though he was Choon-hyang's friend originally and I loved how he tried to get Choon-hyang to see what she's been doing. You might think he's being a little cruel to her, but don't forget he doesn't know the full story and he's just wants them to both be happy.

Goodness gracious I almost thought I wasn't going to be able to fulfill this award. I didn't find anything to fill in the funniest category and I was thinking I wouldn't be able to do this one at least either. Now normally I would throw a hissy fit if there was nothing of this sort at all in a drama intended to be a romantic comedy, but I make an exception for Choon-hyang because it was rather necessary and well done to say the least. Now then, doesn't Mong-ryong make the cutest fake drunk there ever was on the face of the earth? Hehe he looks like he's having so much fun especially since he knows he gets to kick their arses in the next 5 minutes. And what's with the dude with the mustache in the background? Did he forget it's not the 90's anymore?

Ok, big WTF for the whole "couple years later" deal. I don't know how necessary that really was and it makes me sad that they wasted all those years not being able to be with each other. But boy, if it makes Mong-ryong this hawt I don't care at all. Normally I abhor the shiny metallic suits, but somehow Jae Hee just works this outfit like no tomorrow. Plus his long sweeping hair is just so sexy, I'm so glad it's not one of those typical Korean male perms >_< And OOH OOH OOH! Those glasses! Agh just shoot me right now. Plus the way he just power walked through all those guys fighting around him. So much testosterone, yet oh so smexy sexy *__*

You probably thought I was gonna pick the pink dress Choon-hyang wore for the engagement ceremony, but the thing is I didn't really love it all that much, so pass. I really like that striped shirt Dan-hee is wearing here. Nice combination of colors, and for once she's wearing vibrant colors in a nice way and not like in some of her previous outfits. And layering it over that greenish-yellowish shirt was a nice touch. As for Ji-hyuk's outfit, the instant I saw him walking out in that jacket my immediate thoughts were "what the f***?" Is he going for the pimp look? Cuz it sure does look like it to me. And it's _really_ weird considering the fact that it's totally not his style either.

There were no hot moments in this episode either, but as if there could be. And it was really hard to find a nice romantic moment shared between these two since this episode was filled with so much angst. But this was a really beautiful scene when Choon-hyang just laid her head next to Mong-ryong's and just stayed there for a bit for a silent good-bye. Just a really sad and touching moment all at the same time.

Ugh DON'T DO THAT TO ME!!!! You TEASE!!!! Holy crap seeing all these near misses just about gave me a stroke. Sure it works beautifully when you think creatively, but dammit I'm a fangirl! You show that to me and don't expect to torture the living daylights out of my sap-loving soul? And gawd after that they ended it with that 'few years later' deal. I was like wtf THAT was the last time they were technically together??? *screams*

Overall thoughts: Ok that had to be the saddest episode of any k-drama I've ever seen in my entire life. And yes that includes Full House, Fantasy Couple and My Girl. The reason why is that I think the love shared between these two was one of the deepest I've ever seen in my entire life, so to see them forced to be torn apart just heart wrenching agony. I felt so bad for Choon-hyang because she had to deal with Hak-do's possessiveness. I wonder if it ever occurred to him that he could have driven her to suicide? I almost felt like she would've headed in that direction had she not ran away to Busan at the very end. Overall a very satisfying episode even though it was a sad one.
